  2. It may be a good idea to ask a student to keep an eye on the chat in Zoom (simple solution) or the chat in Absalon (advanced solution) so that those who are online have the opportunity to ask questions.

 FAQ - PhD defence

You can get help with testing the equipment to be used in the PhD defence. You can also get help with the actual holding of the defence. The type and scope of the help needed must be coordinated via ITLC. Contact ITLC in good time using this form.

If you also need to do a dress rehearsal, ITLC will also happily attend this. Remember to book the room and coordinate this with ITLC.

Please note that the PhD student (or supervisors) must bring a laptop to run PowerPoint etc. via projector and for screen sharing in Zoom.

It is possible to adjust the presence of online assessors as required. But, as a general rule, they participate online on a big screen via Zoom. Contact ITLC for help in good time.

You can also read this guide to online PhD defences in Zoom and Teams.

Yes, an online audience is allowed, if desired. If the online audience is to be allowed to ask questions or the like and not merely listen and watch, this must be agreed with ITLC in advance.
